hey!
I'm Mackenzie Boughey (pronounced like David Bowie if that helps at all) and I'm a senior at the Severn School in Maryland. Living close to DC and being raised in a politics-interested family has sparked my interest in the US government. I love reading the news and taking part in political debates, and I'm pretty sure that it surprises no one that I want to study Political Science/Sociology during my next four years at Washington College.
In 2018, I established March For Our Lives: Annapolis, MD in conjunction with the national chapter ran by the students of Parkland, Florida to call for common-sense gun legislation. Through my activism I've met with many other students and politicians and have come to appreciate how much the efforts of constituents can in fact influence the political sphere.
However, I realized that sharing and spreading one's beliefs can be difficult. I'm creating this documentary to reflect on the demonstrative methods used by past student-activists to inspire today's youth to find their voice both efficiently and powerfully.
